The Client
Our client is an award winning & thriving international Plc organisation based in Reading who require a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join a energetic IT department to work on a number of cloud migration projects (AWS).
The Role as Senior Infrastructure Engineer
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will form part of the team in assisting with the cloud migration of their business systems to AWS. Working as the senior member of the team, you will play a leading role in the migration of multiple legacy systems to Aws in partnership with a third party consultancy.
Duties include;
- Assist with the cloud migration to AWS
- Lead and assist with projects, development and upgrade of IT services to meet business requirements
- Migration from data centres to cloud services (IAAS, PASS, SAAS services)
- Assist with O365 rollout and adoption
- 3rd Line BAU when required
- Assist in the development of the overall cloud solutions
- Develop, document, make recommendations and communicate plans for investing in IT infrastructure including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.
In addition to excellent communication, collaboration and people management skills, you should possess very good organisational skills, be a pragmatic person and highly focused on delivery.
Experience required;
- A strong understanding Cloud technologies across IaaS/PaaS/SaaS blueprints and policies
- Legacy application cloud migrations
- Preferably AWS or Azure certified
- A good understanding of Azure AD and Office 365 solutions as well as IaaS/PaaS/SaaS technologies
- Have a broad cross-functional infrastructure experience including Microsoft products, Networks, VMWare, security and SQL.
- Ability to work effectively with business and IT stakeholders, both internal and partners.
- Experience of technical environments – data centre hosting (Private Cloud), virtualisation (server and desktop), networking, authentication, security and desktop
- Experience of systems integration, systems development and service operation environments.
- Evidence of hands-on experience with design and implementation production grade applications and services.
- Experience with Linux operating systems and would be beneficial if able to demonstrate script Python, PHP, JavaScript etc.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud reports to management and other IT development partners.
