- Our client is an award winning & thriving international Plc organisation based in Reading who require a Senior Cloud SME to join a energetic IT department to be responsible for leading the design, planning and migration of infrastructure and business systems to the cloud (Azure and or AWS).
The Role as Cloud SME
The Senior Cloud SME will have a hands-on position as cloud expert in either AWS or Azure where they will utilise their experience to design, implement and support a complex corporate infrastructure. This position will be a stakeholder facing role and requires that you establish and manage expectations within the business and drive the team to achieve those expectations to a high standard, in addition to building relationships with 3rd party vendors/suppliers.
Duties include;
- Lead engineer for our cloud activities ensuring a collaborative approach with the wider IT team and business to build a well-informed cloud strategy including migration strategy/roadmaps, adaption, financial management/reporting and team and user community knowledge transfer.
- Migration from data centres to cloud services (IAAS, PASS, SAAS services)
- Delivery of cloud solutions for O365
- Lead the development of the overall cloud solutions: identifying core and project specific resources and assuring and producing low level designs - end to end architecture solutions within the cloud arena.
- Provide cloud consulting expertise, direction and assistance to the wider IT team and business.
- Work closely with Cyber Security to implement and monitor the company's cloud setting and management of any alerting or threats.
- Engaging IT & Business representatives to enable architectural change.
- Offer guidance in infrastructure movement techniques including bulk application transfers into the cloud.
- Identify the top cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the strategic needs of the company.
Experience required for the role as Cloud Subject Matter Expert:
In addition to excellent communication, collaboration and people management skills, you should possess very good organisational skills, be a pragmatic person and highly focused on delivery. Experience required;
- A deep understanding and experience of Cloud integration with Azure and or AWS across IaaS/PaaS/SaaS blueprints and policies
- AZURE and or AWS certified with proven experience of migrating and integrating cloud solutions into the existing infrastructure architecture, including hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments.
- A good understanding of Azure AD and Office 365 solutions as well as IaaS/PaaS/SaaS technologies
- Have a broad cross-functional infrastructure experience including Microsoft products, Networks, VMWare, security and SQL.
- Ability to work effectively with business and IT stakeholders, both internal and partners.
- Experience of technical environments – data centre hosting (Private Cloud), virtualisation (server and desktop), networking, authentication, security and desktop
- Experience of systems integration, systems development and service operation environments.
- Evidence of hands-on experience with design and implementation production grade applications and services.
- Experience of end-to-end architecture, covering business requirements through to technical deployments and service design.
- Experience with Linux operating systems and would be beneficial if able to demonstrate script Python, PHP, JavaScript etc.
- Well-developed communication and presentation skills and the ability to take ownership of project plans, incidents and influence decisions.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud reports to management and other IT development partners.
