Our client is an award winning & thriving International Plc based in Central London who require a dynamic Head of Technology Projects to oversee governance and strategy on group wide technology projects. Based in their prestigious HQ this exciting opportunity requires candidates from a Plc/Blue-chip background.
 
The Role as Head of Technology Projects
 
The Head of Technology Projects will be responsible for defining and agreeing the Group Technology projects roadmap (in-flight & greenfield) and will be accountable for delivering on time, on budget and to the agreed level of quality. They will directly and indirectly lead and manage the Technology Delivery team which includes Project Managers, Business Analysts, Trainers, Change Managers & Analysts and Testers.
 
Duties include;
 
  • Define, schedule and deliver the Technology projects roadmap.
  • Manage the project delivery team which includes project managers, business analysts, change and training managers/analysts and testers.
  • Management of any service providers used to deliver projects.
  • Manage resource capacity and ensure demand is resourced effectively using a combination of permanent, contractor and service provider resources.
  • Management of the project pipeline/demand.
  • Take ownership of project budgets and ensure delivery within the agreed budgets for each project.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships across the organisation.
  • Manage the day to day project finances and procurement activities.
  • Work closely with the PMO team on reporting, tracking, risks & issues etc.
  • Provide oversight and leadership on all technology projects- resolve/ escalate issues accordingly.
  • Take ownership of programme level/ department project risks and issues.
  • Take ownership & effectively manage cross project dependencies.
  • Develop tools, processes and best practices in the Programme/ Project management function.
  • Mentor project delivery team members.
 
The Head of Technology Projects Candidate
 
The client is seeking somebody who is dynamic, engaging, has strong stakeholder management skills, is self-motivated and can work independently. In addition to excellent communication skills (written/verbal), you must have gravitas and be able to demonstrate the following:
 
  • 5-10+ years Head of Projects/Head of PMO within a Plc/blue-chip environment
  • Significant experience working within a technology delivery team and delivering successful projects.
  • Strong track record as a successful manager.
  • Experience in multiple delivery methodologies- i.e. waterfall, scrum, agile.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Very strong communication skills - ability to communicate at all levels and technical abilities.
  • Ability to take ownership and manage complex projects
  • A leader with strong influencing skills that gain results
  • Embraces and encourages collaboration
  • Possesses the gravitas and credibility to gain the trust and buy-in from key stakeholders
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
